Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist,
which was first published in 1988 , is a brilliant book. This book was translated
into 56 languages and sold about 65 million copie worldwide. The story is about
an Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago, who travels from his home land in
Spain to Egyptian desert, to realize his dream , a treasure buried in the
pyramids. The journey in search of a worldly treasure, turned into a journey
within him , to find out the treasured buried within him.
The main theme of this book
is about finding your own destiny. Coelho inspires the reader through this book
to follow his dream by watching and understanding the world by himself , not through someone else’s eyes .
This simple and beautiful story
of the shepherd boy Santiago, makes us understand the power of dreams and the importance of
listening to our heart.
